Thinner skin
Larger superficial veins
Veins positioned closer to the skin
Less fat over the hands
If your parents or siblings have very visible hand veins, there is a good chance you may have them too.
If they have looked similar for years and you have no other symptoms, they are usually a normal variation.
6. Dehydration May Make Veins Look More Prominent
Temporary dehydration can sometimes make veins seem more noticeable.
When the body loses fluid, the tissues beneath the skin may appear slightly less full, making veins stand out more clearly.
Other possible signs of dehydration include:
Thirst
Dry mouth
Darker urine
Headache
Dizziness
Normal hydration may make the veins less noticeable again.
That said, visible veins alone are not a reliable way to diagnose dehydration.
