Check the dimensions
Measure the rack carefully.
Is it approximately:

30 inches wide?
36 inches wide?
Deeper or shallower than a typical oven rack?
Even a few inches can make a major difference when identifying its original purpose.
Look at the metal
Is it made from:
Chrome-plated steel?
Stainless steel?
Heavy blackened steel?
Cast iron?
Thin wire?
A heavy-duty rack suggests it was designed to hold substantial weight or withstand high temperatures.
Examine the edges
Does it have bent-up edges?
Are there rails along the sides?
Does it have hooks or tabs?
Are there grooves or notches?
Those little details can be more informative than the overall size.
