Simple Air-Fried Pizza Toast
This is my go-to pizza on lazy days. In just a few minutes, the air fryer can produce browned sausage, crispy pepperoni, thick bread, and melted cheese. It’s soft in the middle, crispy on the outside, and consistently strikes the mark.
You’ll Need
Two slices of thick bread (sourdough, Italian, or Texas toast each work well)
A couple spoonfuls of pizza sauce for each piece
Mozzarella cheese, shredded
A few pieces of pepperoni
Crushed cooked sausage
Dried oregano or Italian spice
Red pepper flakes, garlic powder, and grated Parmesan cheese are optional.
How I Do It
To begin, preheat your air fryer for a few minutes at 370°F.
In the basket of the air fryer, arrange the bread slices flat. Evenly cover each slice with pizza sauce; avoid using too much or it will become soggy.
On top of the sauce, scatter a thick layer of mozzarella. Add the sausage and pepperoni, and if desired, top with some Italian seasoning and Parmesan.
The bread should be brown and crunchy on the edges and the cheese should be melted and bubbling after 6 to 8 minutes of cooking in the air fryer. Continue to watch it for another minute or two if you prefer more browning.
Slice or consume it as is after letting it cool for a minute.
Ideas for Serving
Excellent by itself for lunch or dinner.
